Summer Series: “Ode to Sand”
Water molds your millions of pieces.
Your fragments compact into forms.
The tide’s fury decreases.
And the sun dries you warm.
You captivate me with your shine.
Each piece of glass and rock reflects.
The world around you declines,
And feeds your magnificence with tiny specs.
Through my fingers, you glide,
And cascade to a pile beneath me,
Onto the home you provide,
For your glorious crabs to spree.
Build your castles to the sky.
Secure your towers against the tide.
Find the space to lay and dry,
Where your beauty is free to stride.
