The Last Supper
The Last Supper by Sarah Nelson, Lena Labiran, Katherine Ator, Nicole Barnes, and Jonathan Fanshaw.
We are emulating the piece “The Last Supper” by Leonardo da Vinci, painted around 1495-1497. It depicts the biblical last supper, which is the communion Jesus gave before his crucifixion. We selected this photo due to its cultural importance, as it is easily recognizable. Also, this photo is ideal for featuring our large group. We believe it’s a good piece for satire because we would have modern food around us and not older food like in the picture. Also, our Jesus would be a black woman because Jesus was born in the middle east and he was definitely not white like he is typically shown as. And also, all his disciples will be white because that’s also how they’re depicted but we want Jesus to really stand out. We may do something to make judas stand out as well but we especially want Jesus to stand because hes the holy one
