Beyond the Border
When you imagine what lies outside the boundaries of your immediate surroundings what comes to mind? Many people see other parts of the world as one collective “outside” – so strange and unfamiliar in respect to language, culture, and tradition that they are grouped together with a lack of regards to their individual aspects. The entire continent of South America is subject to such treatment. Between Central and South America there are over twenty nations with their own distinctive history and cultures. In order to see “beyond the border” one must fully appreciate each unique nation on an individual level, leaving preconceived assumptions behind.
