A Response to “Duality” by Daniel Andrews

Reily small

daniel faces sneak peak

If I place a serious mask on it,

he laughs.

If I put a smiling face on it,

he frowns.

There is no middle ground,

it is either me or him.

We battle to be represented,

he wins.

We battle to be hidden,

he wins.

I am trapped inside him,

unable to be freed.

I am unable to continue,

he does.

I am incapacitated,

he isn’t.

There is no relief for me,

I am always exhausted.

Please, forgive me if I have changed,

he has overcome.
